Law office and Community Foundation issue match
The Caddo Parish Transformation Zone will be hosting Round 1 of their Amazing Shake competition Monday, November 6 in Community Central at The Community Foundation. The purpose of the ‘Shake’ is to give students experience in interacting in a business situation. Local attorneys will be asked to engage the students for five minutes and then score them on their skills of deportment, hand shake, eye contact and conversation. More than 100 students will participate.
Local law firm Blanchard, Walker, O’Quin and Roberts will donate $500 to the Amazing Shake in the name of the law firm that provides the highest percentage of participation (based on the number of attorneys in the firm). Only firms with five or more lawyers are eligible, and the participants who count must be lawyers. Non-lawyers are welcome, but they do not count toward the numerator.
Now The Community Foundation and an anonymous donor have offered to sweeten the pot. Both will match the $500 initially offered by Blanchard Walker, for total donation amount of $1,500 to the Amazing Shake competition.
“We hope by issuing this challenge, more of our local attorneys will learn about the good work happening in the Transformation Zone. These students are truly remarkable,” said Paula Hickman, executive director of The Foundation.
Law offices wishing to participate should contact Renee Ellis (email@example.com), Community Engagement Specialist, with Caddo Public Schools and the Transformation Zone.
The top students from each of the Transformation Zone schools are vying to earn a spot in the final round of the Amazing Shake taking place in Washington D.C. this May.
